OnePlus CEO shares some sample photos shot with OnePlus 6

Image
A lot has leaked over the past few months regarding OnePlus' upcoming flagship leaving almost nothing to the imagination  ahead of tomorrow's big event . However, the device is also the most teased one by the company itself - numerous official posts revealed some small bits about the device (such as  IP certification ) and we have another one from Pete Lau, the company's CEO. Four more photos have been shared on the official Weibo account. Sadly they are compressed to a point where we can't judge absolute image quality of the dual camera setup. It is believed to be very similar to the one found on the  OnePlus 5T  - 16MP (f/1.7) main camera paired with secondary 20MP (f/1.7) sensor. We can expect improved HDR photos and better low-light performance compared to the OnePlus 5T. It's safe to assume that the device will boast some advanced AI features for scene recognition and cool portrait pictures. Source   (in Chinese)

HIGHLIGHTS Nokia X6 or Nokia X - the name remains a mystery leading up to launch The smartphone has been teased to sport an iPhone X-style notch The launch event is expected to start at 2:40pm CST (12:10pm IST) Nokia X6  is expected to be launched by  HMD Global  today in China. The company has been teasing the launch of a new smartphone on May 16, and so far, it has shown the  front of the smartphone in teasers  - most prominently highlighting the iPhone X-style notch in the display. The name of the smartphone that's being launched is a little uncertain however, and  while most rumours agree a Nokia X-Series smartphone is being launched, they go either way on whether the name is  Nokia X  or Nokia X6. A more recent leak though, claims the  Nokia X6 name is now final . As we mentioned, HMD Global has thus far teased only the front of the new Nokia X smartphone (the  most recent teaser  can be seen above), however, a major retailer - Suning.com - had  revealed the b

HTC Exodus is a blockchain smartphone, coming soon

Image
Wondering what the next big buzzword for smartphones is? Sure, at the moment every manufacturer left and right is busy touting some kind of AI for its latest devices, but the future is blockchain. The future of buzzwords in the mobile world, that is. We've already seen a couple of early adopters: the  Sugar S11 Blockchain Creation Edition  in January, and the  Sirin Finney  earlier this month. Today it was time for the first well known smartphone brand to jump into the fray: HTC. The Taiwanese company has announced that it's working on a handset called Exodus, which will be its first blockchain smartphone. No official photos have been made public yet, just the product drawings you can see above. The Exodus will feature a universal wallet and a built-in secure hardware enclave to support cryptocurrencies and decentralized applications. HTC plans to create a native blockchain network with all Exodus units acting as nodes to facilitate cryptocurrency trading among their

Forget Apple iPhone X's notch, here's a true bezel-less Lenovo phone

Image
Lenovo' VP Chang Cheng confirms the upcoming Z5 smartphone to feature a no bezel display with 95 per cent screen-to-body ratio. According to the teasers by Cheng, we can expect this new Z5 phone more likely to be the new flagship device and not a concept. (Photo: Weibo) Ever since Apple has launched the iPhone X with no bezel display, which the tech giant calls it an ‘all-screen’ display, all the major contenders have chosen to blatantly adopt the same design element. However, the Essential is the one started this trend, which has the most minimal ‘notch’ compared to all the other smartphones including the controversial  iPhone X ’s ‘notch’. Regardless of how small the notch might be it still isn’t an all screen display. This barrier still exists until the Vivo Apex prototype has unveiled, which sported a no notch display with no bezels. But, still, that was a unique prototype with a pop-up camera on the top of the device and featured the first in-screen fingerprint scanner.

T hey Say that imitation is the highest form of flattery, and that's exactly what OPPO is doing with its new Realme sub-brand. The Chinese company unveiled the first product in the series, the Realme 1, and it's immediately evident that OPPO is setting Xiaomi — particularly its  Redmi series  — in its sights. OPPO is positioning the Realme 1 as a device that delivers on both price as well as quality, touting the fact that each phone goes through 18 quality tests for the motherboard, more than 100,000 drop tests, and multiple humidity and temperature tests. These kinds of tests are standard across the industry, but OPPO is highlighting them as a possible differentiator. The phone features a 6.0-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, and is powered by MediaTek's Helio P60 chipset with four 2.0GHz Cortex A73 cores paired with four Cortex A53 cores. MediaTek hasn't fared well in the budget segment in recent years, but it looks like the P60 has the potential to change that. Othe

A few months later, the Defense Department hired Google's cloud division to work on Project Maven, a sweeping effort to enhance its surveillance drones with technology that helps machines think and see. Washignton :  Last July, 13 U.S. military commanders and technology executives met at the Pentagon's Silicon Valley outpost, two miles from Google headquarters. It was the second meeting of an advisory board set up in 2016 to counsel the military on ways to apply technology to the battlefield. Milo Medin, a Google vice president, turned the conversation to using artificial intelligence in war games. Eric Schmidt, Google's former boss, proposed using that tactic to map out strategies for standoffs with China over the next 20 years.
